Patient Research Study – Bile Acid Diarrhoea

This survey is to investigate food-related gut symptoms in patients who suffer with bile acid diarrhoea. The data has now been collected and is presently being analysed.

Survey data suggests that 1 in 2 adults who suffer with bile acid diarrhoea continue to have bothersome symptoms which affect their wellbeing. This is despite optimal use of prescribed medicines for this condition.

In order to control symptoms many people avoid specific foods and the survey data collected will help us to understand dietary changes which work best for patients with BAD. The aim of this research is to explore in people who have bile acid diarrhoea what effect food has on their gut symptoms, particularly whether the amount of fat in their diet has any effect on their symptoms.
