Menopause is defined as occurring 12 months after the last menstrual period.  However, this life transition and the phase leading up to it, known as perimenopause, is about so much more than just periods stopping.  Due to reducing levels of hormones, people can experience a wide range of symptoms, that can affect all aspects of their life.  It can also be associated with an increased risk of various health conditions.

However, there are lots of things people can do, in terms of diet and lifestyle, to help manage some of these symptoms and associated health risks.
